BACKSTAGE PASS
NEW YORK
SPRING / SUMMER 2027
Before the runway, transformation happens at touching distance. Wet hair is pressed against skin; metal and mesh trace the face; distressed fabric is tightened, adjusted and held in place. In these photographs from Elena Velez Spring/Summer 2027, the backstage space moves between concentration and suspension. A model waits alone. Hands enter the frame. Light catches a surface and disappears again. The clothes are clearest here—not as finished statements seen from a seat, but as constructions meeting bodies. Hard ornament sits against exposed skin; pale, frayed layers emerge from darkness. The quiet is as present as the preparation. Every look seems to occupy the brief interval between person and performance.
BEFORE
THE RUNWAY

RITUAL
IN DETAIL
Metal, wet hair and skin occupy the same narrow field. Ornament is not separate from the face; it changes how the face is read.

LIGHT / TEXTURE / MOVEMENT
The room recedes. Figures become silhouettes, then reappear in brief crossings of light.

UNDONE
Edges remain visible. Sheer layers, distressed surfaces and exposed construction hold the body without concealing it.

THE WAIT
Between touch-ups and movement, the body settles. These are the pauses the audience never sees.
