SMOL 2.0
When something is described as “smol,” it doesn’t just mean small—it means charming, irresistible, and too cute not to love. Thinkspace Gallery is channeling that same internet-born affection into its returning group show, SMOL 2.0, opening August 9, 2025, in Los Angeles. But don’t let the size fool you—this annual exhibition of small-format artworks delivers major talent.
Created in honor of the late curator and gallery visionary Shawn, SMOL 2.0 builds on her belief that small works are a powerful gateway into the art world—especially for young or first-time collectors. With all pieces sized 12x16 inches or under, this year’s lineup features an electric mix of emerging and established artists who are known for thinking big, even when working small.
“We’ve always been a champion of starting your collection out with smaller works,” the team at Thinkspace shares. “We like to think Shawn is looking down smiling, proud of our family as we march bravely into the unknown.”
From pop surrealism and neon dreamscapes to painterly abstraction and dimensional craft, SMOL 2.0 is a curated feast for collectors with an eye for detail and a love for play. Artists like Casey Weldon, Jolene Lai, Leo Eguiarte, and Caia Koopman bring their signature style into compact, collectible forms. And fan favorites like Matthew Grabelsky, RYOL, and Wiley Wallace pack emotion, humor, and storytelling into every inch.
This year’s show celebrates over 60 artists, including:
Blake Jones’s pop-bright minimalism
Emily Ding’s emotive murals in miniature
Fumi Nakamura’s surreal botanicals
Mister Toledo’s lush figurative forms
GoopMassta, Mr. B Baby, and Stom500 with bold, character-driven visuals
The opening reception on Saturday, August 9 (6–10PM) promises not just wall-to-wall art but full-on community vibes—complete with a DJ, open bar, fresh kabobs, and homemade juices for purchase. It’s a free, no-RSVP-needed night that invites anyone who loves art to come out, collect, and connect.
Whether you're adding to a growing collection or buying your first original piece, SMOL 2.0 proves that great art doesn’t need to be large to be larger than life.
